Dear Distinguished Members of the Pleasant Valley Country Club:

Yes, as you are enjoying yet another Newsletter, it is October! Time is going faster than the "Witch on the Broom in front of that
Harvest Moon". Do you have your supply of candy corn on hand? Soon the pitter patter of little feet or the clomp clomp of big
feet; will be on your porch so you better be ready!

Yes, it is hard to believe it is already October, but ahhhhh, October is one of the most beautiful times of the year here in S.W.PA.
Shame on us if we do not appreciate this gorgeous season - it is right here in front of us! When I was younger I think I took
everything for granted but believe me when I say that I am certainly slowing down now and taking the time to enjoy everything the
season has to offer. The changing of the leaves is breathtaking. A wondrous autumnal equinox at its finest. I invite you to take
time out of your busy schedules to enjoy the beauty of Fall.

In the spirit of the season, we here at the Pleasant Valley Country Club are thinking Halloween and we are ready to "treat"
(not trick) you with a sweet deal (no sugar involved). …..Now that I have your attention…..

The Board of Governors, at their meeting on Wednesday, September 16th agreed to offer you, our distinguished members, the
following Fall Rates. This is their way of expressing appreciation to all of you for your loyalty & friendship.
Member & 1 Guest…………………..$30.00* Member & 2 Guests………………… $45.00* Member & 3 Guests…………………$60.00* *Member MUST make a tee time reservation and Guests MUST play that time WITH the member - Carts are included in the above rates! - (Expires December 31, 2009)
Members, don't forget the "leaf rule" - a plus for our autumn players! Just remember though, this rule only holds when your
playing partners agree to it, beforehand. I know my playing partner has been trying to use it all year - and to no avail. Don't be
nervous R.B., I won't mention any names!

We have all been seeing an unusual number of gnats this year, and how annoying they can be on the golf course!!! I did a
little research over the weekend. According to the Pennsylvania State Department of Agronomy and the USGA Turf Grass
Field Service, this is due to our wet cool Summer, in which the larva of the insects thrived and multiplied. Groan! I can just
hear the late, great Jack Perkins saying: "Huck, that information was a virtual cesspool of useless information." Ha! God
love that Mr. P.

Lastly, I want to express my sincere thanks to the following members who had their golf outings here in September:
Dr. Navarro (Boy Scout Golf Outing); Jim Davies (Davies Ford Team); and Lee Dolfi (Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Local Union
#354 - which I might add was our largest golf outing here at PVCC for 2009!)

I will leave you now with visions of sugarplums dancing in your heads. No wait, that's next month. I will leave you now with
this closing thought: "Time cures sorrows and squabbles - because with time we all change. We are no longer the same
person, whether we are the offender or the offended - we both change.

Sincerely,
George R. "Huck" Rattay

FROM THE HOUSE
As the golf season unfortunately begins to wind down, the Bell's and their staff along with myself would like to thank everyone
who supported the shack. Cindy and I worked together to try to make the shack both convenient as well as profitable and agree
that it should remain open as the weather permits.

Over the past 6 months as your house chairman, I have been committed, along with Cindy and Don, to accommodating your
reasonable requests and suggestions. As our partnership with the Bell's continues to grow, I am sure that we will continue to
satisfy you with the quality and consistency to be enjoyed here at PVCC.

Remember to please support your club and, as always, we welcome your comments and suggestions.

Thank you for your continued support.
